DNC Petition
TO: BOARD AND MEMBERS DNC
Attention: Howard Dean, Chairman
We the undersigned, have issues we wish to respectfully submit to you for your consideration at this time. We have researched and made reasonable decisions about these matters, some of which are known and all of which we have deep concerns about.
We have watched Senator Clinton fight her way through this campaign despite the onslaughts of a biased media. The Senator has fallen, at times, yet refused to stay down. Once again, she has proven her dedication to the American people, as she has throughout her career. We find her undying support for blue-collar workers, the elderly, the middle class and lower class citizens of our nation genuine and admirable. We feel that bipartisan work will be a necessary and most important part of the government in the future and Hillary has experience and success in this area, an important plus in our eyes.
Thus far, her struggle has resulted in the clinching of the blue states required for a Democratic Party win in the general election. Therefore, we believe that Senator Clinton is the strongest candidate to take the White House in November, and we present the following information for your consideration regarding the electability of Senator Obama.
1.) Senator Obama chose to create a divisive campaign burgeoning with racial overtones. Early in his campaign, he and Oprah Winfrey called upon African Americans citizens to give Senator Obama their support based solely on his race. While optimistic in its desired result, its premise remains racist.
2.) Senator Obama chose to attend a church rife with racism, one embracing the sentiments of Rev. James H. Cone's Black Liberation Theology, a Marxist ideology based on hatred and extermination of the white race as it charges all Caucasians with the past ills concerning the historical African American plight. Personally indoctrinated into this hate-mongering church by the Reverend Wright, Senator Obama chose to embrace this theology, without rebuke, for a period greater than twenty years. Senator Obama's outright refusal to denounce the Reverend and Trinity United Church has struck a chord with the American people. Well over sixty-percent feel that the Senator made a grave mistake in neglecting to distance himself from the controversial stance taken by Senator Obama's self-proclaimed "mentor," and friend. His attempt, in recent days, to create a distance between himself and Rev. Wright has been viewed as a political ploy to gain favor in the remaining primary states. He did exactly what Wright said he would do, say whatever he had to, to get elected. Despite differing personal beliefs, this controversy is sure to create a major impact in the general election when the Republicans come to the helm and begin to paint Senator Obama as anti-American.
3.) Senator Obama's recent statements concerning "bitter" citizens "clinging to guns and religion" has created an elitist view of the Senator in the minds of millions of American voters, especially those of the middle and lower classes; voters also required to carry the election in November.
4.) Senator Obama's long-time affiliation with Antoin Rezko, along with Nadhmi Auchi, Rev. Wright, William Ayers, Raula Odinga, and the Reverend Louis Farrakhan, Walter Veltroni (among others), leave him utterly vulnerable to claims of anti-Americanism by the Republican spin machine, and raise justifiable questions concerning his electability. As do Michelle Obama's statements concerning her lack of pride in her country.
5.) Senator Obama's support of Bill # 2433: The Global Poverty Bill, creates a national liability for billions of dollars in foreign aid at a time when our own citizens struggle at the grocery stores and gas pumps, unable to cover outrageous medical expenses, and facing foreclosure on our homes. In addition this bill represents potential loss of rights and freedoms granted us by our constitution. We feel that this clearly shows that Senator Obama does not have the proper priorities in place to vie for the highest office in the land. What's more, we are certain the Republicans will also make that case to the public, further discrediting Senator Obama's electability.
6.) Senator Obama’s stance on foreign policy greatly concerns us, as well. His remarks during a debate on Canada and NAFTA (and his resulting attempt to “patch†that up with Canadian officials) and his statements about Iraq and Pakistan illustrate what to us is a lack of understanding necessary for a Commander in Chief, particularly at such a volatile time. While we uniformly believe a withdrawal from Iraq is important, a hasty withdrawal made by someone who wasn’t even in office at the time could be catastrophic for the region. Senator Obama’s statements concerning attacks on Pakistan further hurt our already damaged global image. As the region faces upheaval in Iraq, Pakistan and Libya, diplomacy is of primary importance. Senator Obama simply does not have the experience or finesse to handle this explosive situation at this time.
7.) In the DNC's attempts to resolve the delegate issues remaining in Michigan and Florida, Senator Obama has vetoed all reasonable efforts to seat said delegates. An approach viewed as a purposeful disenfranchisement of millions of American voter’s voices which Senator Obama has turned a deaf ear. His continued opposition to a resolution concerning this issue may well also be viewed as anti-American when all is said and done.
Many of us, as loyal democrats, are anxious to vote for the Democratic Party in November, regardless of the nominee. However, we feel strongly that Senator Obama has lost his electability. We disagree vehemently with his far-left political positions, his demonstrated lack of integrity and poor judgement, and his lack of bipartisan success and experience. We take issue with his lack of legislative experience so much so that we cannot, in good conscience, support his nomination. Therefore, we submit to you, that we are firm in our preparedness to submit write-in votes for Senator Clinton, or to vote for John McCain in the November election, rather than throw our support behind a candidate who clearly cannot win.
In addition, many of us will vote AGAINST our elected representatives and senators when they come up for re-election if they have voted for Senator Obama against the wishes of their constituencies.
Many of them are not representing our wishes, but their own. Also, be advised that vast numbers of party members have made a solid decision to withdraw from the party, convinced that it no longer represents the historic values once annexed to its institution. These members will no longer provide financial support to the DNC, having lost faith in its ability to represent the voice of the people.
We urge you to consider these facts and make a very careful decision about how the super delegates are encouraged to support a candidate. We do not want a republican government again but we feel it preferable to the one that Obama would offer us, one that would be much more secure for our country.
Respectfully,
